BOSTON — Representative Jen Benson and Senator Jennifer Flanagan are sponsoring a Be an Informed Utility Consumer forum on Monday, May 10th at 7pm. The forum will be held at Lunenburg Town Hall in the 2nd Floor Conference Room. The legislators will be joined by Assistant Attorney General Jed Nosal in the AG's Telecommunications Division, and John DiNapoli, Unitil's Municipal and Community Services Manager.
Mr. Nosal and Mr. DiNapoli will make presentations explaining the different parts of a consumer's utility bill and how utility rates are set. A Unitil Customer Service representative will also be on hand to take questions from audience members on issues with their bills.
"This is a great opportunity for residents to become informed consumers and to learn more about their utility bill," said Benson. "Customers will also get a chance to meet Unitil representatives and hear directly from the state office that advocates on their behalf with respect to utility rate increases."
Senator Flanagan added, "With all the different rates and charges on any utility bill, it can be tedious breaking down each line. The Attorney General and Unitil will be able to explain how rates are set and detail every charge so that we all have a better understanding of the entire process."
