Jen Benson Announces Campaign Kickoff Event

June 9th, 2008 — Jen Benson, candidate to represent the 37th Middlesex District in the State House, will officially celebrate the start of her campaign with a campaign kickoff reception at the Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley on Tuesday, June 17th from 5:30 to 8:30pm. The reception is free and open to the public.

"I have already spoken with hundreds of voters and town officials since I announced my candidacy in February," said Benson. "I want to use this kickoff celebration to connect with my supporters, but also to reach out to voters who want to find out more about my candidacy."

Jen Benson is the current Chair of the Lunenburg School Committee and has a strong record of effective and independent leadership. She is running as the only Democrat in the race to replace Rep. Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) who is running for the State Senate.

Benson will be joined by local community leaders, as well as state office holders that share her focus on public service and putting families' concerns first. State Senator Pam Resor (D-Acton) will be officially announcing her endorsement of Benson.

Other speakers at the event will include Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray (D-Worcester), State Senator Robert Antonioni (D-Leominster), and State Representative Jennifer Flannigan (D-Leominster) who all endorse Benson and her goals of better support for our towns, a clean environment, and quality, affordable healthcare.

"The kickoff will be a great way to find out more about Jen's candidacy while also having fun at a beautiful and historic Shirley landmark," said Chris Mason, Campaign Manager for the Benson campaign. The Bull Run Restaurant is a pre-Revolutionary tavern that has been run by the Guercio family of Shirley for more than 50 years. There will be food and drink served at the reception.
