October 1, 2010—The Sentinel and Enterprise
Eight years ago, I met a woman who struck a chord in my soul. She was new to town and already was looking to be involved in a positive way to help our community. We met because of the Lunenburg Educational Advancement Association. Within the next year she ran for the school committee and won. Of course, I am talking about Rep. Jennifer Benson. Her willingness to work for the greater good has continued to this day.
It actually was demonstrated by her actions before she was sworn into office.
Jennifer was very involved with our town when we were hit with the worst ice storm in years. She cornered the governor during a meet-and greet and got him to intervene and provide help. Jennifer spent a great deal of time at the Lunenburg Emergency Operation Center pressing Unitil for action in daily meetings. She volunteered at the emergency shelter. After being sworn in, she wrote and passed utility consumer protection legislation.
She wants to finish the job in the next session with the municipal utility legislation, which would allow Lunenburg an opportunity to get rid of Unitil. We need her to continue her good work.
I urge you to support Jennifer Benson at the polls on Nov. 2.
