We are thrilled that our community has such a solid, well-grounded person as State Representative Jen Benson representing much of Acton.
She has continued the tradition of constituent service, thoughtfulness, simple integrity, and plain hard work that characterized her predecessors in this position - Pam Resor and Jamie Eldridge. In fact, many Actonians may recall that she started working on behalf of 37th Middlesex citizens even before she was sworn into office for the first time in January of 2009. If you recall, there was a devastating ice storm the month before and it left many local communities without power for weeks.
So she spent most of that month before in the Lunenburg Emergency Operation Center and in conference calls with utilities and emergency management officials.
And the new Representative Benson took the lessons of that that intense experience directly into the State House, where she helped to write and pass a law to protect utility consumers and hold utility companies accountable.
Jen Benson brings the same kind of energy and caring to the other aspects of her role. As a mother of three school age children and a former Lunenberg School Committee chair, she shares the same passion for education that brought so many of families - like ours - to Acton. She serves on the House Education Committee, as Jamie Eldridge did before her, and pays vital attention. Last November 9th, for example, she sponsored a public Education Forum at R. J. Grey Junior High, bringing several experts to discuss educational directions.
So please check the records and maybe even go see Jen Benson, who is as around Town frequently.
We hope and expect that, like us, you will gain a deeper appreciation and respect of her work on our behalf and what she has accomplished already.
